I have been a certified personal trainer through the American Council on Exercise for over 10 years.
I was active in high school where I played volleyball, but after graduation things changed. Working in the banking industry for 5 years, I was mostly sedentary, indulging in more alcohol and unhealthy foods on a daily basis, and not taking care of my health. In order to lose a couple of pounds and not feel so “fluffy”, I would hit up the gym and use the elliptical or occasionally take a GroupX class but my efforts were futile. Frustrated with my lack of results, clueless about how to attain them, and too shy and fearful to ask for help I continued to struggle. Fortunately, that all changed when I began working as a membership counselor at 24 Hour Fitness. There I met and worked with personal trainers who helped put me on the right path. I was so inspired that I decided to get certified too. After receiving my first certification in 2008, I began what would be the very start of my new life.
I have successfully placed in 6 NPC Figure Competitions, but found that lifestyle to be too stressful on my body and decided to discontinue going on stage. My passion for fitness now encompasses powerlifting, bodybuilding, functional training, yoga and enjoying the outdoors.
I strive to inspire others just as I myself was inspired. I understand the frustration and struggle most people go through when approaching their fitness goals. I know what it's like to have a goal but not know where to start or what exactly to do. I know what it's like to not know how to use the equipment and be too embarrassed to ask for help. I know what it's like to try different kinds of diets but not know which one is right. My aim is to show my clients the path and give them the confidence to continue on their own. I will leave you with some parting words that have always helped push me in the direction of positive change and progress: "If it's important to you, you will find a way. If not, you'll find an excuse.
